Environmental Chemistry
This research lane follows how water chemistry shapes the conditions experienced by corals in managed reef systems. I’m developing workflows that combine ICP analysis, routine water testing, long-term system records, and biological observations to examine trace-element dynamics, nutrient chemistry, and coral responses over time. A central question is how measured elemental concentrations relate to biological availability—and how much meaningful information can be gained by connecting chemistry data with changes in coral growth, coloration, tissue condition, and overall system stability.
